Adulthood is realizing that you're not special. You're really quite ordinary. And all that limitless potential your mentors convinced you you had when you were growing up is actually pretty limited because, no, you can't just follow your heart. You can only do what your body and brain have learned to do. What. This isn't a bad thing. You're narrowing down your choices to the things you're likely to excel at. Believing you can do anything just because you want to is the bad thing. It's a pipe dream. You'll spend your whole life disappointed because you never made it as that YouTube influencer. You have to start with your basic skill set. What makes you employable? Be honest with yourself. Are you marketable? How narrow is the field you're trying to get into? The narrower the field, the harder you'll have to work to get into it. Nobody will pluck you out of the sky like a star. You'll start out on the ground. Potential and talent are both worthless without training, experience, hard work, and a market. Ditto with college, which will happily take your money to teach you anything you so desire, without giving a crap about your ability to put that knowledge to practical use. Find a hobby by following your heart, but choose your education and career by using your head.
